I've worked with companies, such as the Esquimalt Military Family Resource Centre and Media Q, as well as magazines and newspapers. Here is what some of my clients or supervisors have to say about me:

Christina is a talented researcher and writer. Her ability to take complex medical topics and translate them into concise, easy-to-read articles is a valuable skill. Christina is also competent and reliable, making her an enjoyable professional to work with.

Emily Rodgers

Editor, Healthy Content Agency

Christina started volunteering for the Military Family Resource Centre a couple weeks before the birth of her first child.  My immediate thought was that she might not be able to make the deadline with a baby on the way, but Christina was up for the challenge.  She completed these incredibly polished articles that exuded her passion for writing. She did the groundwork to craft a meaningful story and, in the months that followed, continued to take the initiative on more stories.  She’s definitely a skilled journalist and I’m more than happy to have her tell the story of our community.  I feel quite fortunate to have such a skilled writer.

Jon Chabun

Communications and Marketing Coordinator, Esquimalt MFRC

I was Christina’s managing editor when she worked at The Daily Observer, a broadsheet daily newspaper, in the summer of 2013.

Over those months Christina proved herself to be a fine writer and an exceptional employee. She produced excellent, clean copy never missing a deadline. She was a superb member of our tight-knit team in the editorial department, both friendly and professional to her fellow editorial members and the members of the public she came in contact with. At the same time, Christina worked exceptionally well on her own. In my opinion, she is self-motivated and confident, seeing each task assigned to her through to completion efficiently and promptly.

Managing Editor, The Daily Observer

Hi and Welcome to My Page! My name is Christina Van Starkenburg, and I like to spend my time writing. And as you might notice pretty quickly, I like to write about many different things, from homes and moving (which as a military spouse, I can assure I have a lot of first-hand experience on), to health and wellness to parenting and ways to grow in your faith.

My husband and I have two sons, aged 4 and 1.5 and we live with our cat on Vancouver Island. I hope that you find encouragement and help while you are on my site, and I look forward to getting to know you better.
