Becoming Fiercehearted for New Years

I'm not all that big into making New Year's Resolutions. I tell myself that it's because if I wanted to change I don't need to wait until the New Year to do so, but I think part of it is that I simply get discouraged that my resolutions never survive all that long. But this year I'm going to make one.

This year I'm going to resolve to being a fiercehearted woman.

If you don't know what that means, then you should read Fiercehearted by Holley Gerth. Fiercehearted is powerful and personal.

In this book Gerth opens up her heart and walks you though all sorts of personal stories that range from hilarious (she accidentally buys chicken with the bone in it), to the fierce (like when she stands up to a bully), to heart-breaking (when she talks about the pain of miscarriage).

Throughout these tales she weaves the message and the promise that her past and thus your past is all full of moments that make you and you can choose to let those moments make you fierce. "If I make up my mind to accept who I am once and for all, I can push that door open and I will love the life I have so much more than before" (p 31).

So this New Year's Day if you're looking to make some changes in your life and learn how to be fiercehearted, then pick up this book and let yourself live the changes.
